Slam Dunk Leeds Latest Line-up now 7 Stages (press release)
Slam Dunk Festival, the UK’s favourite and biggest independent touring festival is back for a 9th year. Not only does it return to run over a few days – Leeds, Hatfield and Wolverhampton- it will be the biggest yet! The 7 stage event uses a combination of indoor and outdoor stages across urban sites to create a totally unique festival experience.
Saturday 24th May: Slam Dunk Festival North. Leeds University.
Sunday 25th May: Slam Dunk Festival South. The Forum, Hertfordshire.
Monday 26th May: Slam Dunk Festival Midlands. Wolverhampton Civic.
This year’s headliner are the platinum selling, The All American Rejects. This will be their only UK performances of 2014, playing a plethora of hits from their four albums which have sold over 10 million copies worldwide including ‘Dirty Little Secret’, ‘Gives You Hell’, ‘Swing Swing’ and more.
Joining exclusive headliners All American Rejects will be the wonderful Kids In Glass Houses. Having announced their impending split earlier in the year, this was the one festival they truly wanted to do a final time. In celebration of which, they will be exclusively playing their massive debut album ‘Smart Casual’ in it’s entirety.
Rock Sound cover stars, We Are The In Crowd will be returning to Slam Dunk Festival and are set to be one of the favourites of the weekend. Singer, Tay Jardine says "The biggest reward of playing Slam Dunk's going to be seeing our old fans and making some new ones! It's going to be a lot of fun.”
Yorkshire darlings and one of the hottest tips in UK rock, Marmozets will be playing to support their forthcoming debut album. Vocalist Becca says ‘I’m excited about playing Slam Dunk as it’s a little like Christmas – all the family get together, have a good drink sesh and lots of surprises are bound to happen!’
Slam Dunk Festival organiser Ben Ray says:
“I am happier than ever to reveal the latest lineup for this year’s Slam Dunk Festival. With such big hit singles, The All American Rejects are a massive headliner for us. I wanted a band who haven’t just toured the UK earlier in the year, or doing other dates around the festival so they are perfect to make the festival unique!
It’s taken me a bit longer to book this year, but really appreciate everyone’s patience and the belief that we will deliver the best event of the summer! There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes that the fans don’t see… bands are only allowed to play one, maybe two festivals in one country over the summer period, and with so many festivals fighting for bands, it’s gets difficult for all of us! It was so important to build on the massive success of last year’s events, I had a lot of sleepless nights! Midlands was especially a great last year as it was the first time we had done the 3rd day of the festival. Not only did it sell out but people were amazed to see the full festival site, including the roads closed off with stages in the middle of them in the city centre of Wolverhampton!”

Under 18s stage announced at Long Division (press release)
Long Division Festival announced it has secured funding from Wakefield Council to introduce a new under 18s stage at this year’s event.
The festival, run by music fanzine, Rhubarb Bomb, received the money, alongside Unity Works, as part of the Creative Partners Project, which aims to support innovative cultural events within the city.
The funding will bring a new stage to this year’s festival which will be open to under 18s for the first time. A series of events will also take place across the Wakefield district leading up to the weekend to encourage young people to take up music.
Dean Freeman, organiser of Long Division Festival, said: “We believe that opportunities for Wakefield's young musicians are severely lacking in the region. Not enough live music venues are catering to the U18 age bracket and as a result, many do not develop an interest or an outlet for their musical skills.
We hope by introducing a new stage for young musicians and fans that we encourage people a new generation of young and creative people.”
Long Division Festival 2014 will take place from 12 -14 September, moving from its previous date in June. The first big headliners will be revealed at a launch event at Wah Wah Records on Brook Street, Wakefield from 7pm. The event is free with the first tickets for sale that evening.
Long Division will be the first event staged in the new co-operative run Unity Hall on Westgate. The hall consists of a 700 capacity music venue, with a second space and café.

New Acts Join Bingley Music Live line-up (press release)
Jess Glynne, The Selector and The Strypes are amongst seven more acts to join the Bingley Music Live lineup!
Jess Glynne, ska legends The Selecter and The Strypes are among the latest seven acts to be added to the bill for Bingley Music Live.
These additional acts join the tremendous lineup for this year's festival, rapidly gaining the reputation as “The North’s last party of summer, which already boasts The Pet Shop Boys, Example and Shed Seven. An incredible festival at £49 for a three day weekend.
Jess Glynne has already sung on two of the highest selling number one singles of the year and is the first addition - Clean Bandit's dance hit 'Rather Be' and Route 94's 'My Love'. When the latter was premiered as Zane Lowe’s ‘Hottest record in the World’, Adele tweeted "TUUUNE" with Lily Allen tweeting that Jess was "slaying the top 3!!!!!!!" as ‘My Love’ hit the top of the charts whilst ‘Rather Be’ held the number three position.
The Selecter formed in Coventry in 1979 will also be performing at Bingley Music Live. They are considered to be one of the most successful ska bands of the 2 Tone era, had a string of hits including 'On My Radio', 'Three Minute Hero' and 'Missing Words'.
Also playing this year's festival are fast rising act The Strypes who count rock legends Paul Weller, Noel Gallagher, Dave Grohl, Jeff Beck and Roger Daltrey amongst their fans. Miles Kane is also a fan and Sir Elton John liked them so much when he saw them on Youtube that he immediately signed them to his music management company, Rocket Music.
Other additions are haunting singer/songwriter Emma Garrett, Port Isla and psychedelic indie rock outfit Neon Waltz, currently being pursued chase for their signature by major labels, and Yorkshire outfit The Sherlocks who have fan band Reverend and the Makers amongst their admirers.
This year's event will be held on 29th,30th and 31st August and will be the North's last big party of the summer. The festival is outstanding value for money, as it is over four times cheaper than some of the region's other festivals. Previous acts have included Nile Rodgers and Chic, Primal Scream, Jake Bugg, Calvin Harris, Nero, Editors, Cribs, DJ Fresh and Doves.

Legendary duo the Pet Shop Boys recruited as Bingley Music Live 2014 headliners (Press Release)
Yorkshire music festival Bingley Music Live may just have
secured the festival coup of 2014.
The 16,000 capacity, 3 day festival in
Yorkshire has added the legendary music duo Pet Shop Boys, who have sold over
50 million records worldwide, as one of their headliners this summer.
Headlining the other nights will be chart topping hip-hop
artist Example and Yorkshire heroes Shed Seven in their home county as they
approach their 25th anniversary. While three times Brit Award winning Gaz
Coombes of Supergrass will be appearing as a Special Guest.
This year, Bingley Music Live has artists from every genre
and promises the most complete lineup in its history.
Other highlights include Gorgon City and MNEK (fresh from
their joint top five smash ‘Ready For Your Love’), the phenomenal Naughty Boy
and festival favourites Simon and Oscar from Ocean Colour Scene.
Fast rising Singer songwriters Chloe Howl and John Lennon
McCullagh will join the lineup. Chloe was nominated in the BBC Sound of 2014
and Brit Awards Critics Choice, while John was signed to the new 359 Music
label by Alan McGee, the man responsible for Oasis and 2013 headliners Primal
Scream.
The Pet Shop Boys are the most successful UK electronic act
and duo of all time, with a career spanning over 30 years. They have clocked up no less than 42 Top 30 singles and 22 Top 10 UK singles hits.
The six times Grammy nominees have won three Brit Awards, including the 2009 award for outstanding Contribution to Music Award. The Ivor Novello Outstanding Contribution to Pop Music and the 2013 Q Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music are just two more of the band’s many accolades.
Hits include ‘West End Girls’ (voted Song of the Decade by six million BBC listeners), ‘It’s a Sin’, ‘Go West’, ‘Always on My Mind’, ‘Rent’, ‘Opportunities (Let’s Make Lots of Money)’ and the Dusty Springfield accompanied classic, ‘What Have I Done to Deserve This?’.
Example returns to BML after first appearing in 2010 and is the first artist to ever return as a headliner. Elliot Gleave (his real name) hit the big time with his second album 'Won't Go Quietly' which peaked at number 4 on the UK album charts. This saw two top 10 singles - 'Won't Go Quietly' and 'Kickstarts'.
Yorkshire’s favourite sons, Shed Seven, tore up the Britpop scene in the mid-90s and amassed no less than fifteen Top 40 singles and four Top 40 albums, acquiring a loyal and dedicated fanbase along the way. In 1996, singer Rik Witter and the band had more hits than any other act that year in the UK! Anthems ‘Getting Better’, ‘Going For Gold’ and ‘Chasing Rainbows’ have stood the test of time.
The very best of new talent is represented with acts like Bipolar Sunshine, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Eliza and the Bear, The Wytches and We are Catchers, recently signed to the Arctic Monkeys label.
Night Engine will put in an appearance, having supported the Kaiser Chiefs and The 1975 last year, enjoying comparisons to David Bowie. As will D/C and Champs. Etta Bond, the first signing to hit-maker Labrinth’s new Odd Child label, is yet another of the artists set to do business in 2014 alongside Joel Compass. Notorious DJ team Ultimate Power and respected music journalist and DJ Simon Price will be DJing during some of the main stage changeovers. Many more artists will be released in the coming weeks.
This year's event is to be held on 29th, 30th and 31 August. It’s the North's last big party of the summer and is incredible value for money at £49 plus booking fee for the three-day festival – over four times cheaper than some of the region’s festivals. Previous acts have included Nile Rodgers and Chic, Primal Scream, Jake Bugg, Calvin Harris, Nero, Editors, Cribs, DJ Fresh and Doves.
Festival-goers still have time to sign up the special offer of paying for their tickets for less than £10 a month by logging on to www.BingleyMusicLive.com

Live At Leeds Reveal another 50 bands (Press Release)
Having announced the first wave of artists for this year’s
festival including the likes of chart toppers Clean Bandit, indie legend Albert
Hammond Jr and breakthrough band Wolf Alice as well as the special Leeds Town
Hall show featuring a reformed ¡Forward Russia! Live At Leeds Festival now
announce a further 50 bands to the 2014 lineup!
The additions to the lineup once again promise to showcase
everything from the best in up and coming UK songwriting talent to hotly tipped
groups from both sides of the pond!
With an emphasis on the up and coming, the festival will see
Manchester-based star in the making Bipolar Sunshine bring his sublime, upbeat
and original pop to the festival. 2013 saw him collaborate with the likes of
Rudimental and FTSE and this is bound to be a year of even further breakthrough
for the young musician. Also joining the lineup and in a similar camp of
luscious, soulful pop are the hotly tipped recent Kitsuné signees Years &
Years, the electro-pop trio’s recent Hype Machine topping single ‘Real’ caused
waves and points to what will surely be a successful year. The elegant, fragile
sounds of London via Kendal four-piece Woman’s Hour will also be bringing the
painful longing of their upcoming Secretly Canadian debut album to the festival
and are not to be missed whilst The Bug’s noise loving dancehall and hip-hop
influenced electronica is sure to get people moving. Having been longlisted for
the prestigious BBC Sound Of 2014 poll, Bristol singer songwriter George Ezra
will also be bringing the tender sounds of his single ‘Budapest’ to the fest
whilst fellow act to watch out for in 2014, Fat White Family will be peddling
their intense brand of sleazy and visceral rock n roll.
Festival attendees with a penchant for the heavier side of
things will also certainly have their tastes catered for. The Finnish
apocalyptic post-punk quartet Beastmilk favour huge riffs and equal sizeable
with a gothic and metallic twinge that is sure to appeal to fans of Savages and
Queens Of The Stone Age alike as showcased on last years Kurt Ballou produced
full length ‘Climax’. New York’s Big Ups will also be on hand to bring their
frantic, abrasive 90s influenced punk to the festival. Echoes of the Jesus
Lizard, Fugazi and Quicksand peppered this year’s debut full length ‘Eighteen
Hours of Static’ and with a live show even more energetic than their recorded
output, they are sure to be a highlight of the weekend.
Blurring the boundary between solo artist and band,
Nottingham’s 18 year old Saint Raymond has a knack for layering his distinctly
pop sensibilities with gritty, honest lyrics and a wisdom well beyond his years
that has seen him gain a level of attention that is sure to grow. With a
similar ear for a pop melody but with their feet more solidly in the indie/rock
camp, Californians The Neighbourhood last year revealed their debut album ‘I
Love You’ to much praise and having recently supported seemingly unstoppable
group The 1975 on their sold out tour are sure to make their presence known in
the UK this year. Joining these will be Leeds very own The Sunshine Underground
who with a new album due will be bringing their fusion of punk, indie and electronic
music to the festival!
These acts are just the tip of the iceberg and with over …
of the finest acts performing across over 20 stages, this year’s festival is
one of the strongest yet.
