Burton Agnes Jazz & Blues Festival June 27th-29th 2014

The 2014 Burton Agnes Jazz & Blues Festival takes place from Friday 27th June to Sunday 29th June. Surrounded by the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds, the Festival is set in the award winning grounds and Great Hall of this Elizabethan stately home.
Could this be the most breathtaking place to spend a weekend, soaking up the UK's hottest jazz and blues acts?

This year's line up includes Chantel McGregor, British Blues Award's guitarist of the year AND female vocalist of the year 2013; the legendary jump, jive, swing, rhythm and blues of King Biscuit and the Pleasure Boys; New-Orleans-Bourbon-bar sultry vocals and boogie piano of Tipitina; festival band favourites, gospel tinged Polly and the Billets Doux. And if that isn't varied enough, we have master-saxophonist Alan Barnes, teaming up with Horace Silver experts The Give a Little Love Orchestra for 'Watching the Detectives': music that celebrates Sherlock Holmes and Columbo!

As always, bands overflow from the outdoor main stage into the Great Hall, our shops and cafe courtyard, and the late night sessions in our bar tent. Delicious food is prepared by our catering team, ranging from homemade burgers to spicy curries, ice creams from our vintage ice cream van, and bakes and cupcakes in our tea tent. Local, award winning Wold Top beers will be on tap, brewed just a few miles away and delivered by brewer and jazz fan Tom Mellor, who then picks up his guitar to play in the Hall.

There is camping in the beautiful surroundings of the adjacent Park Field, with hot showers laid on. The child in all of us is taken care of by balloon artistry and face painting, and highlights of Burton Agnes' grounds include a maze, giant games, jungle garden and woodland walk with forest creatures to find.

The Burton Agnes Jazz & Blues Festival is proud to be an official fringe event of Le Tour de France's visit to Yorkshire. We will salute the arrival of the Tour de France's 'Le Grand Depart' in Yorkshire with 'Le Mini Depart'. Taking place alongside the Burton Agnes Jazz & Blues Festival, there will be time-trialled clown bike and toddler races on 'Le Mini Course'; a celebration of French cuisine on the food lawn; and the hothouse gypsy-jazz music of France's most famous jazz guitarist, Django Reinhardt, performed on stage by Djangologie.

‘Possibly the most enjoyable jazz concert I've ever attended’ The Independent

Bingley Music Live announces Day Splits (press release)

The north's last big party of the summer, Bingley Music Live, has revealed the day split of  its acts.

The three-day weekend tickets - priced at just £49 plus booking fee - have been selling well for the Bradford Council-run festival, so organisers are this year releasing day tickets earlier than ever before.

Bradford Council, who run the event, have announced the day split of acts set to perform alongside headliners, the internationally acclaimed Pet Shop Boys, chart-topping hip-hop artist Example and Yorkshire band Shed Seven.

This year, Bingley Music Live boasts an eclectic line up, covering just about every genre, including the best of new talent and promises the most complete line-up in its history.

Headlining the main stage on Friday, 29 August are 90s Britpop stalwarts Shed Seven with special guest Gaz Coombes (Supergrass). Other acts include rising star MNEK, The Selector, Joel Compass and Coasts.

The Second Stage presents Eliza and Bear, Champs, We are Catchers, Prides and Woman's Hour.

The party hots up on Saturday 30 August with one of the UK's biggest dance anthem hit-makers Example headlining the main stage. Other acts include Gorgon City, The Strypes, Jess Glynne, Bi Polar Sunshine, Catfish and the Bottlemen, John Lennon McCullagh, Dexters and Avec Sans. Power ballad DJs Ultimate Power will be hitting the decks between acts.

Saturday's Second Stage will see performances from critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Nuck Mulvey. Joining him will be Natasha North, Young Kato, Renegade Brass Band, Emma Garrett, Bird to Beast, Bridie Jackson and the Arbour, Warme and The Mispers.

Six times Grammy Award nominees The Pet Shop Boys, who have sold more than 50 albums worldwide, will take the stage by storm on the final night on Sunday 31 August. Other main stage acts sharing the bill with them are: Naughty Boy, Simon & Oscar (from Ocean Colour Scene)- playing acoustic versions of their hits, Chloe Howl, Etta Bond, D/C, Night Engine and Charlie Cunningham.

The final acts on the Second Stage are: The South, Kyla La Grange, The Wytches, Neon Waltz, Ramona Flowers, Georgia Harrup, Port Isla, Carla and The Sherlocks.

Winners of the Emerging Talent competition, which pitches local upcoming acts against one another to win a place on the BML bill, will be announced after the final on 16 May.

Phil Barker, Bradford Council's Assistant Director for Sport & Leisure, said: "We decided that tickets were selling so well that we can now tell people when acts are playing, in case they can only commit to one day. They can then pick which day best suits their musical tastes and book a ticket."
