CentreStage Heats (press release)

It's year five of Martin House Children's Hospice's prestigious music competition for young, Yorkshire bands and musicians. Three nights of heats will decide our finalists who will then compete at O2 Academy Leeds, 23rd July, to compete for the top prize of performing at Leeds AND Reading 2014 and a music video shot by Sodium!

Centre Stage 2014 kicks off from the 22nd-24th April, at the Belgrave Music Hall, Leeds, and promises to be swarming with local talent from the region. Whether or not you support any of the contenders, this is an event not to be missed if you care about music and the best up and coming talent in West and North Yorkshire, and indeed raising money for a very special cause.

Centre Stage 2013 was a great success and welcomed its first winning band from North Yorkshire, King No-One, who received an amazing reception at Leeds & Reading, and still remain a large supporter of our work. Previous winners ‘The Mexanines’ have reaped the benefits of the exposure that Centre Stage has given them as they enjoyed life on the road as the main support for The Pigeon Detectives at the end of 2013.

The competition has now hit the big £150,000 mark in terms of funds raised, and all of this has been channelled directly into the care of the children and their families at Martin House Children’s Hospice.

This year’s competition is sponsored by National Breakdown and Blacks Solicitors.

The Heats will run from 22nd – 24th April at The Belgrave Music Hall, Leeds. Doors 6.30pm. Show starts 7pm. The event is pay on the door or available from SeeTickets at £4.50.
